Yesterday a magnitude 8.8 earthquake centered in Chile, the largest earthquake ever recorded on earth. The details of that devastating event are slowly being released today. Tsunami waves reached as far away as the shores of Japan and Hawaii, causing a lot of flooding. There are some reports of looting in certain Chilean cities, but authorities are acting quickly to quell these activities. Oddly, this event is not occupying much of the news airwaves; only two or three minutes of attention per blurb. More than 300 dead, and millions displaced; and the numbers keep climbing. “Great earthquakes in diverse places”, says the bible, will be one of the signs of the return of the Messiah. What looms even larger is another reference that says, “The love of many shall wax cold”. Indeed, many folks continue in a “business as usual” attitude, in the face of worldwide social, political, and economic dilemma. We are so successfully numbed to massive devastation that we no longer recognize the magnitude, or importance, of such monumentally life changing events. It’s as though we are being prepared for true devastation, even an End of Life Event; E.L.E. The earth will reel to and fro like a drunkard. The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood. The first earth heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. These three prophecies speak of galactic devastation, yet there remains either unconcern or disbelief. Either way, the earth’s population does not appear disturbed by the approach of such moments … and clearly, these moments are approaching.
