Do We Care

08/10/2009 Human Observations
Do we care?
We sit in comfort knowing that we have a home, food for our families, income to insure our economic standard of living, and affordable health care to protect us in the event of a medical emergency. Do we care that millions of other Americans are not amongst our “privileged” numbers? Do we care enough to do something about this weakness in our system? If the answer is “no”, then we will better understand what manner of human we are. If the answer is yes, then we must think. Consider how to insure that no matter what our economic or social standing, all Americans get to have housing, food for our families, income, and healthcare. Anything less is inconsiderate, uncaring, and uncivilized. If and when we find ourselves on the list of the discarded … well, that would certainly have an impact on our thoughts and our comfort; wouldn’t it?
