Christmas Eve

12/24/2010 Human Observations
So what is the status quo? Well, it would appear that those in economic or political power get to live on the profitable side of barter; that is, they put out the least to take in the most. The Italian government raises the mandatory payments that all of its citizens must pay when living within its national boundaries (barter), even though all of the people born on that portion of the earth have an equal right to dwell on that portion of the earth. The civil dispute between the northern and southern governments of Korea continues because the revenues of national and international commerce (barter) inspire some to behave in inequitable and unscrupulous ways, even though all of the citizens of Korea have an equal voice concerning the distribution of the fruits of their national resources. The Ivory Coast is in violent political turmoil because the nation's revenues (from ore, taxes, whatever) are completely at the disposal of the governmental leader, even though every citizen of that nation has an equal right that nation's resources; and the profits thereof. Whether democratically elected or violently assumed, governing bodies perpetuate the economic and social distance between the haves and the have-nots by participating in an economic system whereby barter is utilized to acquire clothing, nutrition, and basic housing. All humans born on the earth have an equal right to live on the earth. Some misguidedly believe that opportunity, favoritism, or even violent action gives them the right to a larger and more disproportionate amount of land, money, or power over other humans. This does not, however, alter the simple truth: all humans have the same human rights. We all came into this life naked. So look at it in a different light:
If food, clothing, and shelter were provided to all planetary citizens, would any of our present worldwide political dilemmas exist?
This idea is not the antiquated Utopia of Paradise Lost, this is not some version of a Socialist ethic, and certainly not the result of capitalism, democracy, or any trade agreement. This is equality on a planetary scale. Which of us is willing to be a productive member of a society where we work as a choice, produce for fulfillment, and publically conduct ourselves with respect to demonstrate and thereby perpetuate civilized behavior. I am.
