Pay Attention

03/09/2010 Human Observations
The disciples of Jesus asked him when shall these things be (There shall not be left here one stone upon another of the temple that shall not be thrown down? And what shall be the signs of thy coming, and the end of the world? Jesus answered them by saying:
“Take heed that no man deceive you … ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye are not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom..."
The entire planet is involved in conflict, contention, and war. Iran is in dispute with Israel and Western nations, Nigeria is amidst an ethnic cleansing, Persia offers the world two wars, and India and Pakistan continue to squabble over authority and boundaries; as do also China and Tibet, and Japan and Taiwan.
“…and there shall be famines…”
A by-product of the recent devastating earthquakes in China, Haiti, Chile, Indonesia, and Turkey is the lack of facilities and utilities in those affected regions; no water, power, or waste disposal systems. Therefore, the immediate danger is the proliferation of harmful microorganisms in the drinking water, and on the land as a result of human waste.
“…pestilences …”
Psyllids – or the plant-jumping lice Aphalara itadori, are being tested in small sections of the UK in an attempt to control the proliferation of a troublesome Japanese weed. This sounds like a natural method of weed control, but what is unknown about the introduction of specific bugs to the region is their reaction to other aspects of the region. As with all life forms, these bugs will react to their new environment, sometimes unpredictably, as they too begin to proliferate. Their action on this specific weed is to suck the life out of the plant. What is it in the weed that attracts their attention, and could this attraction drift towards animal life forms as well? Questions that should be answered well before these predators are loosed into the environment.
“…and earthquakes in diverse places.”
The magnitude 8.8 earthquake in Haiti was so powerful that it moved an entire city more than 10 feet from its original position, according to GPS measurements. Yet no one seems to attribute much importance to the week-long worldwide series of quakes and aftershocks, each of a magnitude of 6.0 or greater.
“All these are the beginnings of sorrows. …And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.”
The leader of a Colorado Catholic School denied re-admission to a student because her parents are lesbians. This statement was issued by church officials:
“Parents living in open discord with Catholic teaching in areas of faith and morals unfortunately choose by their actions to disqualify their children from enrollment.”
Fascinating. The Catholic Church tolerates adulterers and fornicators in the congregation, forgives murderers and rapists in the Confessional, and allows pedophiles to speak from the pulpit ... but kicked a child out of school because of the sins of her parents.
“This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and THEN shall the end come. … Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the POWERS of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven…”
