02/23/2010 Human Observations
In the days when the Apostles of Jesus the Messiah walked the earth, its was prophesied that a great famine was approaching. It was because of the famine that it was first determined to pool their resources, and distribute assistance to various churches. Today, the church appears to respond differently to catastrophic events; not so much as a body, but moreso on an individual level. In addition, the responses are not towards the churches in an afflicted region but on a more general level. Some believers now, attribute this common relief, as a regular part of “The Way” of the church; as I, too, once believed. However, I stand corrected, recognizing the scriptures as those that clarify the reason for this “Christian Welfare System”; delivered rather specifically to the churches of the region. As spoken by those first believers, who were of the circumcision in Jerusalem, “Then hath God also to the gentiles granted repentance unto life”. The one action leading directly to the response to that action.
“And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved”. Acts 2:21 (the coincidental date of my birth)
