11/10/2009 Human Observations
Veterans Day
By what standard a man lives is the demonstration of his acquired wisdom.
Each human is born naked. We are neither gods nor angels; just human.
The assumption that we might mentally or physically ascend to a position of godly authority is as childish as the misguided belief that anything that is created might ascend to the same position as its creator. Power may be shifted from point to point, responsibilities may be misused by some, and words (and even time and space) may be changed that some may appropriate levels of authority for a while … but only that which created can indeed create. All others only emulate.
We each have an ever changing standard by which we measure all things encountered in our lives, adding to this barometer as better or more preferable information is acquired. This standard is governed by the passions that drive us, fueling the motions and movements of daily activity. However, in cases where there may be conflicting desires, it is our “master passion” that determines a final resolution. So, then, the way to better comprehend who we are is to consider what is our individual “master passion”. Whether dark or honourable, this master passion is the motive and energy source that enables and steers our actions. We would do well to consider and examine ourselves in this “light”.
Happy Veterans Day America.
May we always remember the service and sacrifice of the many who have enabled us to live lives of freedom, choice, and opportunity. Many of us stood between death and the American people. I survived, unlike many others. Let not the lessons and lives be wasted in attitudes of complacency. Ours is a system of life that requires the participation of each citizen in determining the course of our civilization. Get busy.
