Stephen told the story of redemption noting the necessity for a doubled effort, which brought to mind such as :
Joseph was rejected by his brothers(Israel), then recognized upon their second visit.
Moses spent forty years becoming the leader of Israel, then another forty years being accepted by Israel.
The Israel was that delivered out of bondage perished in the wilderness, but the second generation out of Egypt crossed over into the promised land.
Israel dispossessed the inhabitants of the promised land, to be likewise dispossessed because of their own wickedness.
Ultimately, Israel rejected the Messiah the first time, but will accept Him as the prophesied Deliverer, as noted in Hosea 5:15 "I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early".
Ezk 33:30-33 says, "Also thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh from the Lord. And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after covetousness. And, lo, thou art to them as a lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. And when this cometh to pass (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them."
I seek my open door
