Better Information

05/23/2011 Human Observations

Galatians 4:9-11

9But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 10Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. 11I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

In this moment of graduations from higher and lower educational systems, some will make their exit from the hedged world of learning, venturing into a different attitude, where they must utilize and apply all that they have learned.  We would look upon them in puzzlement if they were to discard their knowledge, and return to adolescent behavior, expecting parents and the like, to provide for and guide their lives.  Much the same applies to a believer who turns from salvation and liberation in Christ, to return to the activities of ceremonial law that actually cannot give life.  Those who are under the law are obligated to keep the whole law.  We who accept our Messiah’s death as our own recognize that ceremonial laws are but a shadow of that in which we are presently active participants, placing the things that belong to God above the things that are designed by people.  When we “love our neighbors as ourselves”, we fulfill the law.  When we do not, we surrender to personal weaknesses within us.  The discovery of such weaknesses is the stuff that composes the activities of a lifetime, eventually to find what is necessary in the course of a life, to overcome the things that prevent God’s love from ruling our minds; instead of our personal convictions, that are of our own concoction.  In short, today’s graduates and believers in Jesus must both utilize what is provided in order to stand on their own in the world.  The difference is that graduates have their information storehouses from which to draw, while believers will eternally have access to the Creator of all knowledge and information.  A man is only as useful as his information. Those who belong to God have better information.
