04/16 2011 Human Observations
My mind was set on elaborating on grace, mercy, and benevolence until my reading of the conclusion of the gospel according to Luke. I discovered that our Messiah provided a gift to His friends prior to His ascension, one that makes all of the difference in the world; literally.
Luke 24:45
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures
These are they who walked with our Lord as witnesses to all of His words that were spoken to humankind. Yet, in His final hours upon the earth, our Messiah opened their previously closed understanding of the scriptures. Paul suggests that we “covet the best gifts”. In my opinion, one of the very best gifts that a believer can seek after is the understanding of the scriptures, so as to comprehend and receive the healing, relief, guidance, and nourishment of God’s Holy Word; because with our understanding opened, we are enabled to receive the teaching offered by the Holy Spirit:
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
