God Does the Work
04 29 2011 Human Observations
When I face the challenges of living in this world, I usually try to see the difficulties from an understandable position, then look for the available avenues that will bring about a successful resolution. However, when faced with the impossible task of turning away from my personal desires that fall short of God’s standards, I seem to spiral into the oblivion of my well fed dread, knowing that the roots of my bodily hungers are deep. Yet, the light in my mind inspires me to seek, not only The Way to ascend above the lusts of the body, lusts of the flesh, and the pride of life … but also to be spiritually tethered to the activities that please the Lord our God; that I too, may be a source of His GOOD pleasure. In this desire to respond well to what He reveals to me about Him … and me … His response has been consistently filled with mercy and power. It has never been about what I do, but rather what Jesus The Messiah DID when He substituted Himself for me on His cross. Much as He did when controlling the aspects of His betrayal (He forced Judas to act by calling him out at the supper), arrest (commanded the soldiers to leave His disciples alone), trial (offered no defense, necessitating a decision), crucifixion (forced the punishment to occur before the Holy rituals occurred), and even His death (because He GAVE UP the Ghost; it was not taken from Him), God called me to be a member of His family; and will perform in me all that is required for me to conduct myself as His offspring. The encounters that happen to me are the things that offer opportunities for my responses. It’s not about what I am presented with, but rather, how I respond to those things that determine what manner of man I am; and am to become.
1 Thessalonians 5:24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
