I was awakened an hour earlier than that set on my alarm clock. So with coffee in hand I continue in Luke.
In Luke 21, Jesus is so very thoughtful to detail to his friends the importance of paying attention. Yeah, the temple was adorned with pretty things, but it would all crumble in due time because the world would reject both God and His emissary. Yeah, civilization seems like a sociological and technological wonder, but all nations, even individual peoples and family members would soon be at each other’s throats prior to the great and terrible Day of the Lord. The lights in the sky seem wondrous and beautiful, but the time approaches when the powers of heaven will be shaken; all authority to return to the legal and rightful owner of both heaven and earth. All of these things were a marvel to those who “dwell” (make their spiritual commitment or home) on the earth, yet our Deliverer revealed the weakness in the spiritual and physical structural integrity of both the earth, and all that thereof dwells. He even wrapped it up revealing how angrily His enemies would mistreat those who believe in His words, yet He offered guidance as to how we should behave and conduct ourselves throughout the ordeals of spiritual upheaval; so that we would not be swallowed up by the cares of this world, nor intimidated by them that use their power to disturb us. He says that when we see the fig tree, and all trees, shoot forth we know that summer approaches; so likewise when the signs of the end times are visible, know that the kingdom of God is near. Heaven and earth Will pass away be His words will not pass away. Both of the present dwelling places of living beings will one day no longer be accessible to the living, so we should takes heed to our Messiah’s words, living in anticipation of our Lord’s return, that He might find us in obedience to His instructions, that we might be discovered legally eligible to inhabit His coming kingdom; and to legally stand before Him justified, according to His law, by Him. May His loving guidance enable us to conduct ourselves ever cognizant that we are the children of God operating in the power and authority of His Holy Spirit. Happy Son-day.
That which is perceivable is observable. Those who have eyes to see, let them see. That which is observable is measurable. Let that mind be in me which was in Jesus The Messiah, that I may comprehend what I behold.
