A Gentle wind

There a gentle Long Island wind that promises to warm up to 55 degrees on this Saturday. Spring is in the air. I was reading in Lukes gospel about the only son of a woman in city of Nain, who our Messiah brought back to life after he was dead. This was so astounding to the folks of the region that people of the region began to say that “a great prophet has risen up among His people”, and that “God has visited His people”.

This news prompted John the Baptist to send 2 of his disciples to ask Jesus, “are you THAT prophet”, meaning the one spoken of in the Book of the Law that describes The Redeemer of Israel?

It occurred to me that those who walked in the time of Jesus were able to speak with him directly for their answers and instructions. But we, who believe in Him without the benefit of touching His garments, have an even greater blessing. In speaking of John the Baptist, who Jesus acknowledges is specifically spoken of in the scriptures, He says:

Luke 7:28
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. (Are their some born NOT of women here on the earth?)

So, that begs the questions: what is this kingdom of God, and why is the person who is least in this kingdom of God greater than John?

John 20:29
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

He speaks of us, who trust in the words of the Redeemer of Israel, more than the words of the world. Before we were born, He spoke a blessing for us, to comfort and empower His us with His approval and His validation. And just as Israel, in believing in their future redemption, “reckons it to be so”, likewise we take as “a done deal” our value and citizenship in the Kingdom of God; all because HE said so.
