Improvement, not change

12/25/2010 Human Observations
In response to a letter from a friend, I wrote the following:
I appreciate your taking the time to detail your response so thoroughly. You've presented a rather familiar argument to a one time Ayn Rand devotee. As such, my thoughts extend far beyond the limitations of collectivism, capitalism, or any previous attempted governmental, economic, political, or social system ... mostly because no governmental, social, political, or economic system has proven itself successful for all of the citizens under its rule. In short, nothing has worked; so to continue to any of these systems is to perpetuate its failure. A reasonable person cannot do the same thing and expect a different outcome.
My solution pre-dates the formation of governmental systems, precedes the need for barter, and thereby, pre-empts any thoughts of privilege or entitlement. It begins with respect, demonstrating that every human being born on the earth has the right (birthright) to own a portion of the earth for the purpose of dwelling. My proof of this is that we are all, every single one of us, born naked. All we possess at our beginning is our birthday suit. Our mental capacities are unknown, and our ambitions and aspirations are unmeasurable. Each individual neonate has the same value: we are a weak and vulnerable lump of living neediness.
So the retarded son of a wealthy man, who is born with Downs Syndrome (Mongoloid) is equal to the healthy newborn son of an impoverished farmer. They both, being born on the earth, have the same right to own a portion of the earth, on which they may dwell. This our planetary birthright. This is how the improvement of civilization begins.
