Persecution

Red Skelton cut a video explaining the Pledge of Allegiance, noting how interesting it would be if the addition of "under God" would be considered a prayer, and contentiously opposed. How incredibly prophetic for the early 1960s. We who believe in the Lord our God are familiar enough with the history of the persecution of the people of the Lord our God to realize that the day quickly approaches whereby the very belief in HIM will be sufficient to result in the death of the believer. This, however, is just a physical manifestation of the spiritual principle: friendship with "The World" is enmity (to be against) with the Lord our God. You cannot serve two masters, and the events of our lives demonstrate that we are always serving something or somebody. So belief in God will be met with death from those in authority of The World", since The World is governed by the enemy of the Lord our God. What's interesting is that Red Skelton, for all of his words of belief and patriotism, was addicted to gambling, serving THAT master when not consciously participating in obedience to the Word of God. We all have "a thorn in the flesh", so to speak, that keeps us humble; and human.
