Just as Abram, the first of the circumcision, was commanded to walk before God without blame as Abraham, so we, the adopted, are commanded to be perfect as the kingdom of God. These tabernacles were condemned to death along with the souls that they contained, but were rescued from destruction by our Messiah who died in our place, which satisfied the laws that we had broken. Our spiritual circumcision is accomplished whereby we put off the sins of the flesh by taking to ourselves the circumcision, or death, of the propitiation of our sin; even Jesus our Messiah. Therefore, we can only be perfect and blameless if, when God looks at us, He sees us minus our sins, which are taken away by His Messiah. In this, The Rock had to be smitten to accomplish our reinstatement into the good graces of God our Creator.
However, after we have been granted access to the Throne of Grace as active citizens of the Kingdom of His Holy Son, we need only to speak to God in the name of the Rock of our salvation, confessing our sin to have it removed from us. As spoken in 1John 1:9 … “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.” So just as in the days of Israel’s wilderness experience whereby each year the high priest had to enter into the Holy of Holies to offer the sacrifice for the sins of Israel, so our sacrifice, Jesus the Messiah of the world, is set in the throneroom of God to forever separate us from our sin, and clothe us in the perfection of His obedience.
