Add a new name to the American watch list: Syria. Today, it was announced that our State Dept. issued a demand that Syria live up to a United Nations agreement by withdrawing its troops from Lebanon. This on the skirts of the devastation that rocked Beirut yesterday, a blast that killed the former prime minister, and left a gaping hole in the ground and the hearts of the many in Beirut. Syria says that they will do all that they can to ease the growing Lebanese tensions. We'll see.
And then there's this food for oil thing ... more than 690 million dollars mismanaged into the pockets of the few, and the folks, for whom the food was intended, are still hungry. By the way, what is the Panamanian involvement in all of this? I'm getting that "Baby Doc" itch again on the back of my neck. Reganomics revisited?
A blast from the past.
Saw Lorraine, of the "Gino and Jackie" show. Of all the folks of that original Laguna moment, she is about the last one that I expected to have survived the times here in Laguna. Still in the Canyon, but the beachy skin is healed of the over-sunning. Nice to see a familiar face. Thought I saw "Cheryl", from the Swanee Sect", earlier today. It wasn't her. Think we'd actually planned to marry once. Ain't life funny sometimes.
Got a coffee plan for tomorrow. Another first introduction, here in Laguna. Developments as they occur.
The sun is bright, the sky is blue, the temperature approaches perfection, and I'm on my way to the job. Accomplished the beginning of Ceaser's demand yesterday, found the route and destination very do-able. It's a good beginning indeed. Still seeking my own apartment, still seeking my open door.
